My wife is extremely gifted at playing the harp. We have decided to do a little project and record her performance onto a CD or two and market it online and in local shops. Instead of hiring a studio as we have done in the past, we’re thinking about doing it ourselves at home.
Could someone help point me in the right direction of what equipment and software would be appropriate for this task, preferably items which will connect to my existing PC. My PC is a Athlon 64X2 dual 4200+ with 3 gigs running Windows XP Media Edition. I’m not looking to break the bank with this, but I do want the product to be of high enough quality to justify selling in a store.
Thanks.
Steven - Anyone with a few hundred dollars can make great recordings at home these days. Great equipment keeps getting cheaper and cheaper.
I would highly recommend getting a USB audio interface and one or two mics (one if you need to mic the harp only).
Interface:

There are many others out there too - just search "USB audio interface"
Make sure whatever you get that it has "phantom power" for condenser mics.

You will be amazed at the results you can get with this inexpensive equipment.
