THE PROBLEM
1) I cannot connect to xbox live.
2) When attempting to connect I get a message asking me to run the connection test.
3) The results of the test show that all the settings are working, but the test fails when checking "xbox Live".
4) Sometimes the results of the test show that Xbox live is working fine (despite not signing in on the first attempt). If this is the case I can sign in and connect to xbox live, giving me access to the market place, messages etc…
5) If I have managed to get a connection up and running, when I load a game, the connection fails and I am unable to sign in again. Any attempt to do so results in another request to run the connection test - which will either fail or succeed as mentioned above.
6) On a very rare occasion xbox live will connect and remain connected after loading a game - if this happens I can play for a limited time before getting conectivity error messages and being booted from the game.
7) It is worth noting that the frequency of the test passing and games loading with the connection remaining is getting less frequent with each attempt.
ACTION TAKEN
I have contacted the support line to remedy this problem and have followed their advice as stated below.
1)I have lowered the firewall through my service provider - did not make a difference.
2) I have insured that the ports are set on my rooter - ports were already set.
3) I have tried various ethernet cables to insure that the problem isn’t caused by a faulty wire - did not make a difference.
4) I have tried both a guest profile and my subscribed profile to see if the fault was with my account - did not made a difference.
After trying all these options I contacted the support line again and was advised to buy a new router. I’m reluctant to spend the money on a new router however as there is no insurance that it will work. Besides my router works for my PC and was used in the past for an xbox live account, so I don’t believe buying a new one would make any difference.
I was also advised to try my xbox at someone else’s house with an internet connection, but I don’t know anyone who has one, so this isn’t an option.
The support line have left me in the lurch as they refuse to take any further action untill I try these two final suggestions. This isn’t possible however for the reasons started above.
Can anyone suggest any solutions or possible causes for my connective difficulties?
Call mircosoft,circut city, best buy:geek squad and tell them your problem and have them come out and try to hook it up.
Run the connection test again. Something isn’t right.

do you have mozilla fire fox on your computer by any chance, cause fire fox has been known to automattically block xboxlive. something is definitly wrong mabye inside the xbox. i would bring the whole console and the wires to gamestop or circut city
